Introduction

Uplift Adult and Youth Community Interest Company (CIC) is committed to safeguarding the welfare and well-being of vulnerable children and adults who participate in our programs and activities. This Vulnerable Children and Adults Policy outlines our commitment to providing a safe and protective environment and ensuring appropriate measures are in place to identify, prevent, and respond to potential risks or concerns.

Policy Statement

Uplift Adult and Youth CIC aims to:

Definitions

For the purpose of this policy, "vulnerable children and adults" refers to individuals under the age of 18 years and adults who may be at risk of harm or exploitation due to physical, emotional, mental, or cognitive vulnerabilities.

Responsibilities

Designated Safeguarding Officer (DSO)

The DSO for Uplift Adult and Youth CIC is Naima Mohamed Ali, +44 7831 189155

The DSO is responsible for overseeing the implementation of this policy and coordinating safeguarding efforts within the organization.

Management and Leadership

  • Management and leadership are responsible for providing support and resources to ensure the effective implementation of this policy.
  • They must lead by example and foster a culture of safeguarding and vigilance within the organization.

Employees and Volunteers

  • All employees and volunteers are required to familiarize themselves with this policy and adhere to its guidelines.
  • They must report any safeguarding concerns to the DSO promptly.

Safeguarding Procedures

Uplift Adult and Youth CIC will implement the following safeguarding procedures:

Recruitment and Screening

All individuals working with vulnerable children and adults will undergo appropriate screening and background checks as required by law.

Risk Assessments

Risk assessments will be conducted regularly to identify potential safeguarding risks in programs, activities, and facilities.

Safeguarding Training

All employees and volunteers will receive training on safeguarding policies and procedures, including identifying signs of abuse or neglect and reporting mechanisms.

Confidentiality

Safeguarding concerns will be treated with the utmost confidentiality and shared only with individuals directly involved in the investigation and support process.
